St. Louis forecast: Scattered storms Saturday after lunchtime, a few may be strong

Weather Alert Day Saturday for the potential of isolated strong afternoon and early evening storms, mainly from 4-7PM in the metro area. More storms next week.

ST. LOUIS — Another fast moving system could slide in on Saturday with showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and early evening. A few of the storms may  be strong, near severe limits. Because of the low risk for severe weather, a Weather Alert Day has been issued by the Weather First Team.  Not everyone will see a strong or severe storm Saturday afternoon and evening. If a severe thunderstorm develops, the threats are 60 mile per hour gusts and or hail up to the size of quarters.

Another chance of rain is possible Sunday evening and overnight. The wet pattern continues into next week with more rain and thunderstorm chances into Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Severe thunderstorm chances look to increase Tuesday and Wednesday.

Cooler than average weather is expected by the end of next week.
